Portugal national team coach, Roberto Martinez, praised Cristiano Ronaldo’s capacity as captain. His leadership has had a good influence ahead of the 2024 European Cup.
Portugal beat the Republic of Ireland 3-0 in a trial match at the Municipal de Aveiro Stadium, Portugal, Wednesday (12/6) early this morning. Cristiano Ronaldo was the star of Selecao das Quinas’ victory in this match by scoring two goals. Meanwhile, another goal was scored by Joao Felix.
The additional two goals in this match mean that Ronaldo has scored a total of 130 goals in 207 appearances with Portugal. He has also always scored goals during his 21 years playing for Portugal since 2004.
With the experience he has, Ronaldo is expected to become a leader who will have a big influence on Portugal at the 2024 European Cup. Ronaldo himself previously led Portugal to win Euro 2016.

Ronaldo showed this in the match against Ireland. This Al Nassr star chose to give the ball to his teammate several times even though he had the opportunity to score a hat.
“His commitment as captain is extraordinary. Today we saw two world-class goals, but I really enjoyed his game,” said Shin Tae-yong, quoted by DT Sport.
“He has already scored two goals, but his first choice is to provide assists to his teammates. That shows solidarity and friendship, and those are important values in the dressing room when you go to the Euros,” he explained.
At the 2024 European Cup, Portugal is in Group F with the Czech Republic, Georgia and Türkiye. They will start their work in this event against the Czech Republic on June 15.
