Ibrahima Konate has not yet played at Euro 2024. His physical condition which is never fit makes the French national team defender annoyed.
Konate was initially projected to be France’s center back duo at Euro 2024 with Dayot Upamecano. However, a thigh injury meant he had to be willing to be a reserve in the first three group phase matches and his place was filled by William Lintasa.
This injury also meant he was absent from Liverpool’s remaining four matches in the Premier League. This existing condition has made Konate extremely annoyed.
Because Konate has tried hard to recover its condition at the end of last season. Moreover, he has played in two of France’s warm-up matches ahead of the Euros, after being sidelined since April 24.
Therefore, Konate wants to try hard in the final team training session ahead of the 2024 European Cup Round of 16 match against Belgium, Monday (1/7/2024) evening WIB tomorrow.
“I came with big expectations. I already knew my situation before the first match. It frustrated me, but I know my role on and off the field. Ibou, when fit, will not be a backup,” said Konate as quoted by the DT Entertainment City.
“I’ve been out for 1.5 months, but I prepared well. Not only once did I almost become a starter. Preparation is short. This is part of football. This is good learning for me.”
Ibrahima Konate has played in France since 2022 with a total of 16 caps.
